Lieben Sie auch die Westküste der Türkei? Wir sind 2013 dorthin gereist, und zwar mit dem Auto. Quer durch Griechenland, über die Dardanellen, über Assos, Alexandria Troas, Pergamon, Ephesos, Milet und viele andere Städte, bis uns eine dramatische Autopanne das Weiterfahren unmöglich machte. Der Vorfall gewährte uns einen interessanten Einblick in die türkische Bürokratie in bester byzantinisch-osmanischer Tradition.

Do you love the west coast of Turkey, too? We travelled there in 2013 – by car. The trip took us across Greece, the Dardanelles, via Assos, Alexandria Troas, Pergamon, Ephesus, Miletus and many other cities, until a dramatic car breakdown made it impossible for us to continue our journey. The incident allowed us to gain an insight into the bureaucracy of Byzantine-Ottoman tradition.

Nothing beats a little dose of the unexpected while on holiday – it’s the only way you can really get to know a country and its people. After all, how else would we have gained insight into Turkey’s bureaucracy had we not had that awful car trouble? It also meant we had the chance to make one last excursion to Izmir.

Der nächste aktuelle Reisebericht wird ab dem 23. April 2025 eingestellt. Er wird sich mit Südafrika und seinen numismatischen Sehenswürdigkeiten beschäftigen.
This trip took place in 2013 and was updated to meet our new technological standards in 2025. You can find many other travel diaries and reports of numismatic events on our Event Site. The next new travel diary will be available from 23 April 2025 and focus on South Africa and its numismatic sights.
